SIS NEWSLETTER 24th JUNE 2016

END OF SCHOOL YEAR CEREMONY

On Thursday 30th June the ceremony to celebrate the end of the school year will start at 10.00 on the school’s playground. After the ceremony children and parents will go with their form teachers to the classrooms where they will receive their reports.

STUDENTS WHO ARE LEAVING

We would like to ask all parents of children who will not be staying with us for the next school year, 2016/2017, to inform the school about this fact. This information is very important for us as we need to prepare a list of students for the next school year and for other administrative purposes such as contracts and planning issues. If your child is leaving please inform the office by email: info@sis.info.pl.

LOST AND FOUND BOX

All items of clothing found during this school year can be taken from the box in the locker area. Please feel free to look for any lost items. All the leftover clothes will be donated to charity in July.

ID CARDS FOR CARS

SIS has decided to implement a new policy regarding those parents and students who have cars/vehicles. This is in order to provide a higher, more efficient quality of safety measures for all. Therefore we would like all parents and students who have cars/vehicles to provide the office with their full name and license plate number (country) as soon as possible. Once this has been done you will receive an ID card for your car/vehicle and in the future only those with the ID card will be allowed on school premises. The ID that HQ parents have for their cars is sufficient for our purposes but must be used to get on school premises.

SLEEP-OVER

On the 17th June the Student Council organised a second school sleep-over. Participating students spent their time in school watching movies, playing board games, doing sports in the gym to name a few activities, rather than the usual studying. We would like to thank all who attended and supported us during this amazing event.

ECO DAY

On 27th June we will celebrate our annual Eco Day. This year Middle and Diploma will go to Świdwie bird sanctuary, about 25km from Szczecin. We will get there by bus. The students will take part in an introductory lecture about the reserve and then we will explore the surrounding nature during outdoor activities. As we have so many students going we need three guides. Two speak English and the other will have a translator. After this we will have a bonfire and our traditional Eco Fashion Show.

The school will provide sausages, bread, sauces and water, but if you wish to do so you can provide your child with anything else they would like to eat (healthy stuff though!). Also, please remember that the students should wear appropriate clothes. Even if it’s warm they should have some long trousers to avoid being scratched while going through bushes (they can change them later). The shoes should be appropriate too (not sandals, they should be covered). Also, as this year there is high tick bites incidence, please give your child some tick/mosquito repellent and after the trip please carefully check the body for ticks.

More information will follow closer to the date.

GALLERY OF ONE POEM

On 15th June 2016 at 17.00 at the Pomernian Library (Książnica Pomorska) 15 Podgórna Street in Szczecin there was an event which we co-organised along with the Polish Writers Association and Pomeranian Library: Opening of Gallery of One Poem and a meeting with a Szczecin writer Janusz Krzymiński.

The artistic part of this event was presented by our M1 students Mia and Bartek accompanied by our music teacher Mr Sikorski and their families. They gave fantastic performance entitled:"Famous melodies on both sides of the ocean". The writer and the organisers of the event expressed their gratitude and highly appreciated the high artistic level of our students’ performance.

Communication” and “Making the News” IPC units that students studied in their IPC lessons. Visiting the printing company complemented our School Curriculum and was an extension to our daily learning activities. We would like to say a Big Thank You to Mrs. Żakowska - the initiator of our exciting field trip!
