CURRICULUM
We are the only school in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship that implements the IB program at all levels of education: Primary, Middle oraz Diploma.
In 2005, Szczecin International School obtained full * International Baccalaureate (IB) authorisation in the scope of the IB Diploma Programme final examinations. At the Primary and Middle Years level, our school was authorised by the IB in 2021. We now offer a continuum of education as an IB World School.
IB World Schools share a common philosophy - a commitment to improving the teaching and learning process in a diverse student body by delivering ambitious, high-quality international education programmes. - www.ibo.org
Primary
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) offers an inquiry-based, transdisciplinary curriculum framework that builds conceptual understanding. It is a student-centered approach to education for children aged 3-12 which nurtures and develops young students as caring, active participants in a lifelong journey of learning.
Middle
The Middle Years Programme (MYP) is intended for students aged 11 to 16 (from the 6th grade of primary school to the 2nd grade of high school).
The MYP system is based on the principles of comprehensive education with an emphasis on the ability to communicate and work in a group. As part of the programme, students follow 8 subject groups and along with the acquired knowledge, students observe the relationships between the subjects taught and the phenomena of everyday life.
Diploma
The Diploma Programme (DP) is a two-year programme and covers third and fourth year students of high school. International baccalaureate diploma students choose one subject from each of the six groups of subjects, 3 subjects at the Higher Level (HL) and 3 subjects at the Standard Level (SL). In addition, each student must complete 3 additional core courses and the forms of work resulting from their specificity.
The choice of subjects for the IBDP exam is discussed with each student individually, taking into account the preferences for their future field of study and the requirements of specific universities.
International Baccalaureate
It opens the door to the best universities in the world: it is recognised by the British Oxford and Cambridge Universities, and good results in the IBDP exam facilitate application to American universities, even the renowned Harvard, along with European Universities. Graduates of the IBDP are often exempted from university entrance exams and from additional language proficiency exams. In addition, some foreign universities offer special scholarships for IBDP graduates. In Poland, the IBDP exam is treated as a secondary school-leaving examination certificate *
